Ferreries district runs north to south, across the centre of the island and has some of the hilliest terrain in Menorca, with impressive gorges and fertile farmland. Originally relying solely on farming, today, jewellery, furniture making and footwear are all important sources of income. There is a very picturesque part of the old town, with narrow cobbled streets. Ferreries has grown in recent years and the main square still remains the centre of activity with a wonderful farmers market held every Saturday. Close by, you can find the beaches of the South Coast, Cala Galdana, Turqueta, Son Saura, Macarella and Macarelleta.
